Oil Painting

Length:31.7 x Width:41.2 (cm)

Wang Shou-Ying (b. 1934, Lukang, Changhua) was graduated from the Taipei Normal School (now National Taipei University of Education) with a degree in art. Her work has received awards at the Provincial Teachers’ Art Exhibition, the Taiwan Provincial Art Exhibition, and the Chung Hsing Cultural and Arts Award. She has been an active member of the Chinese Oil Painting Society and the Tai-Yang Art Association, and has held numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Taiwan and abroad.
Wang Shou-Ying, a painter known for her evocative oil paintings, channels her emotional state through textural brushstrokes and subtle arrangements of form and color. Her works often feature misty blue-grays or strategically placed high-chroma hues to create a hazy, romantic atmosphere. Flurry embodies her signature style. The central floral arrangement is rendered in muted tones of red, gray, and blue with black undertones, while the background glows with large swaths of yellow and deep brown. This restrained color palette lowers the overall brightness, allowing layered color fields and varied brushwork to merge fluidly. The resulting image is both structurally grounded and visually lush, evoking a sense of flourishing vibrancy beneath a veil of dreamy softness.
