陳維德(1945-),字思齊,號洗梅齋主,出生於福建省福州。1960年從錢濟鄂習詩文書畫,1963與于右任見面請益書法,並加入中國書法協會、標準草書研究委員會,1964年入國立藝術專科學校,獲全國大專書法比賽第二名,1965年入輔仁大學中文系,1970年入輔仁大學中文研究所,1972年兼任臺北女師專(臺北市立大學)與輔仁大學講師。1980年成立洗梅齋書塾,1984年獲中山文藝創作獎,同年入政治大學中國文學研究所博士班。1985年任國立編譯館編審委員,1988年任總統府參議,並為全省美展評審委員。1995年獲國家文藝獎,1996年成立浴德書會,2001年獲「吳三連獎」,2004年成立明道管理學院國學研究所,兼任所長,2012年成立明道大學國學研究博士班。
陳氏諸體皆擅,用墨醇厚,楷書植基唐人法度,謹嚴中透秀逸;行草二體則追王羲之、米芾氣韻,流暢高雅,篆書沉著端整,隸書莊嚴渾穆,兼有其師臺靜農、謝宗安筆意。他曾於〈學書偶作〉一詩中自謂:「晉書俊逸唐精雅,力效風流恐殖荒。半紀琢磨形對影,鏡中驚覺髮蒼蒼。」
本作為行書寫岑參「山房春事」第二首,釋文「梁園日暮亂飛鴉。極目蕭條三兩家。庭樹不知人去盡。春來猶發舊時花。」行氣連貫、筆法流利,行氣嶔崎類效米顛,但字字分明,結體端整有氣度,可謂當代書風的代表面貌。(505字)
Chen Wei-de (1945- )–style name Sih-chi, pseudonym Hsimei Chai Chu–was born in Fuzhou, Fujian Province. In 1960, he learned poetry, writing, and painting from Chien Chi-o. In 1963, he met with Yu Yu-jen to inquire about calligraphy, which led to him becoming a member of the Chinese Calligraphy Society and Standard Cursive Script Association. In 1964, he entered the National Taiwan University of Art, and he won second place in the National College Calligraphy Competition. He was admitted to the Department of Chinese Literature in Fu Jen Catholic University in 1965, and the Graduate Institute of Chinese Literature in 1970. In 1972, he served as a part-time lecturer at the University of Taipei and Fu Jen Catholic University. In 1980, he established the Hsimei Chai Academy, and he was awarded the Sun Yat Sen Literary and Artistic Creation Award in 1984. In the same year, he was admitted to the Ph.D. program of the Institute of Chinese Literature at National Chengchi University. In 1985, he became a member of the editorial committee at the National Institute of Compilation and Translation. In 1988, he became the Executive Officer of the Presidential Office, as well as a member of the review committee for the Taiwan Provincial Art Exhibition. In 1995, he was awarded the National Literary and Artistic Creation Award, and in the following year, he established the Yude Calligraphy Society. In 2001, he obtained the Wu San Lien Award, and in 2004, he founded the Graduate Institute of Chinese Studies at MingDao University, serving as a part-time Director. In 2012, he founded the Ph.D. program at the Graduate Institute of Chinese Studies at MingDao University.
Chen is proficient in all calligraphy scripts: his regular script follows the Tang Dynasty standards, rigorous, thorough, yet elegant, while his cursive and semi-cursive are similar to Wang His-chih and Mi Fu’s aura, fluent and graceful. His seal script is steady and neat, his clerical script solemn and sturdy, with a hint of Tai Ching-nung and Hsieh Chong-an’s penmanship. He once commented on his own calligraphy skills in the book Occasional Notes on Calligraphy: “Jin Dynasty’s vibrance and Tang’s elegance, any rendition is unable to do justice. Half a century of work on form and shadow, yet only my image in the mirror tells the time.”
This is the second poem in Cen Shen’s “Mountain House in the Spring”–“In the dark of Liangyuan the ravens fly free, the houses in the distance remain two or three. No passerby in the courtyard that the trees would know, only the blossoms still bloom in the spring.” Similar to Mi Dian’s works, the brushwork is fluent and resolute, yet each character is distinct and clear, the structure neat and majestic, which is representative of the charm of contemporary calligraphy.
