Introduction:Ishii Mitsujiro (1888-1982) and others presented the statue to the Memorial Hall on the fifth anniversary of the death of President Chiang, April 4, 1980. Ishii Mitsujiro was born in Kurume, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. He had safely escorted Sun Yat-sen to the Port of Kobe, when Sun ended his second visit accompanied by Hu Hanmin and Dai Tianchou to Taiwan in 1913 and left Keelung by steamer. At that time, he was in his late twenties and served as a secretary to Governor General of Taiwan. After World War II, he had served as Deputy Prime Minister under the cabinet of Okada Keisuke, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chairman of Japan Golf Association, and Chairman of Japan Amateur Sports Association. He died at the age of 94. His memoirs "Recollections of Eighty-eight Years" includes many records about China and Taiwan affairs.
