Postage Stamps Commemorating Chiang Kai-shek

Introduction:To mark the third anniversary of the death of President Chiang Kai-shek, a set of postage stamps were issued on April 5, 1978. In designing the stamps, the significant moments in Chiang Kai-shek's lifetime were selected as the motifs, including (1) a youthful portrait of Chiang Kai-shek taken in 1912; (2) a heroic photo taken when he vowed in front of the troops before marching on the Northern Expedition in 1926; (3) a historical footage that Chiang Kai-shek in Lushan speech "The Eleventh Hour" declared his determination to go to war of resistance against Japanese aggression, July 17, 1937 ; (4) an image of grandeur of Chiang Kai-shek reviewing the service in 1956 National Day. Except that Yan Qishi designed the pattern of the stamp (2), Hu Chongxian supplied the pictures for producing the rest of the stamps.
