Introduction:The surrender ceremony of Japan to the Allies was held on September 3, 1945, aboard the United States Navy battleship USS Missouri. In April 1946, the national government denominated the day as "Victory over Japan Day" and held on the same day an autumn Remembrance Ceremony. After relocation to Taiwan, the government stipulated that September 3 is the official annual Armed Forces Day. On September 3, 1974, the day marked the 20th Armed Forces Day, a stamp designed with the theme of "Marco Polo Bridge Incident" was issued in commemoration of the service's great feats.
