Since the opening, the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts (KMFA) has followed the principle of “establishing a museum of art history,” steadfastly mapping out the history of Taiwanese art.  After KMFA restructured and became a public agency in 2017, the arriving of a new type of art museum expanded the scale and imagination of its collection.  The new guiding principle for acquisitions is refined quality, focusing on the essential works by important artists in the development of Taiwanese art history. The Museum also aims on diverse use of the collection to enhance the visibility of works and to further formulate a recollection of Taiwanese cultural image.
