Introduction:“Fish farms” are a frequently revisited theme in Yang Shun-Fa’s (1964 –) The Submerged Beauty of Formosa series, usually presented in a composition where the sea melts into the sky with an abandoned hut or historical relics in the center of the scene. Yang once explained that his works in The Submerged Beauty Formosa were oftentimes edited based on the hundreds of images he took onsite. As he merged the photos together one by one, Yang was able to create a balanced sense of beauty by focusing among multiple moving perspectives and reveal the poignance of these submerged buildings.
