Fengyue was a well-known Chinese-language arts and literature newspaper issued during the Japanese colonial era, aimed at ordinary folk. The paper underwent four name changes based on shifts in its editing principles and style: Fengyue (May 9, 1935 to February 8, 1936), Fengyue Bao (July 20, 1937 to June 15, 1941), The South (July 1, 1941 to January 1, 1944), and The Southern Poetry (February 25, 1944 to March 25, 1944). Of these, Fengyue was published by the Fengyue Club, which was organized by literati of the Dadaocheng area, with Dong Shanying as consultant and Xie Xueyu (Xie Ruquan) as main member and chief writer. Other members included Lin Shusan, Wang Shaotao, Zhuo Meng'an, Ou Jianchuang, Lin Mengmei, Lin Qingyue, and Xie Zunwu.
Fengyue No. 1 consists of four pages printed on one sheet. The first page is an advertisement page. The header of the second page bears the publisher's statement, declaring the origin of the name Fengyue (which means "the wind and the moon"): "The substance of the wind is its clear air; the substance of the moon is its bright form." That is, it symbolizes clarity and brightness. Below are the Art Garden and Bulletin sections, the latter serving as a bulletin board, containing a detailed name list of the Fengyue Club members and the newspaper staff. The third page contains the special literary columns Novels, Poetry, and Words. The fourth page includes the columns Intro, Chat, Romance, and Riddles. By and large, the publication's style tended toward the romantic, the nostalgic and the humorous. Fengyue Bao was published until 1937, and its literary quality became gradually more intense as time passed.

《風月》為日治時期著名漢文通俗文藝報刊，根據編輯方針與風格走向的轉折，發刊期間歷經四次名稱變革：《風月》（1935.5.9-1936.2.8）、《風月報》（1937.7.20-1941.6.15）、《南方》（ 1941.7.1-1944.1.1）、《南方詩集》（1944.2.25-1944.3.25 ）。其中《風月》乃是由大稻埕地區的文人所組織的「風月俱樂部」主導發行，由東山英擔任顧問，謝雪漁（謝汝銓）為主幹兼主筆，另有成員林述三、王少濤、卓夢庵、歐劍窗、林夢梅、林清月、謝尊五等。
《風月》第1號為單張4版，第一版為廣告頁，第二版頁首即為〈發刊辭〉，開宗明義敘明「風月」之命名由來：「惟夫風之為物也，其氣清；月之為物也，其色明。」亦即取其「清明」之意。此外，另有〈藝苑〉、〈啟事〉等單元，後者乃布告性質，詳細羅列「風月俱樂部」及刊物之組織成員姓名。第三版為「小說」、「詩海慈航」、「詞林」之文藝性專欄，第四版則包括「短引」、「閒談」、「花事闌珊」、「灯謎」等。大抵說來，此時報刊風格仍較偏向言情懷舊、笑謔狎邪，要到1937年《風月報》以降，文藝性質才漸趨濃厚。
