Meng Yao relates the dazzling highlights of her personal life journey in emotional language. Starting with a fond childhood memory of her first time riding in a Yangtze riverboat as it broke through the waves, she then recounts her childhood in Nanjing, the war with the Japanese that broke out when she was in secondary school, her time studying in Chongqing, and her relocation to Taiwan during the Chinese Civil War, as well as how she grew and matured under these turbulent conditions. Despite the adversity of those years of hardship, she recalls many resplendent memories.
