Description:Photographer/writer Wang Hsin wrote a series of articles about the meaning and techniques of photography based on his unique take on photographic concepts. Wang expressed similar beliefs when he was invited to speak in the Chinese Television Service’s (CTS) photography lecture series, which was transcribed and published in CTS Today Magazine and has since become a seminal piece of literature on Taiwanese photography. In this essay, Wang opines that the quality of a photograph is not necessarily correlated to a photographer’s experience or seniority. Both photographic experience and life experience are simply parts of the photographer's broader life journey. Wang believes that an artist should focus on honing their own creative power rather than trying to replicate past works or mimic others, since viewers will only judge their work based on the work itself rather than their experience. Finally, Wang describes his photographic pursuits and process, ultimately adhering to the principle that exists within their heart: to follow an artistic path while also possessing the ability to write. According to Wang, a photographer’s job is to use the lens to record and report the places they visit, the people they meet, and the things they come into contact with. “It is a difficult path to take, but the easiest path to remain true to yourself.”
