Description:Written by chief magistrate Takada Tomizo, judge Inuisuke Fujii, judge Shokichi Uno, clerk Furuyama Kiyoshi, and clerk Chuhei Yamashita of the Taiwan Governor-General Office Provisional Court. One book of 34 leaves, with the introduction on the first leaf. The introduction was printed on notepaper bearing the words "Tainan Election Commission." At the top, written in ballpoint pen, are the words "September 21, 1915: Taiwan Governor-General Office Provisional Court (in Tainan); Judgment of Yu Qingfang and 22 Others." The cover bears the words Judgment of Yu Qingfang and 22 Others, and at the upper left, written in red ink, are the words "September 21," dating it to September 21, 1915.
In 1915, Yu Qingfang, Jiang Ding and Luo Jun led Taiwanese rebels in an armed uprising against the Japanese, which became known as the Yu Qingfang Incident (also known as the Xilai Temple Incident or the Tapani Incident). Following the failure of the rebellion, Yu was captured on August 22, 1915, at Wanglai Village. This was the largest and costliest (in terms of lives sacrificed) incidence of anti-Japanese resistance by Taiwanese people during the Japanese colonial era.
This document is a judgment from that era, handwritten entirely in Japanese. The content contains itemizations of the personal data of the defendants and of objects confiscated, as well as main body text, facts of the case, and legal reasoning. The 23 defendants named are Yu Qingfang, Su Youzhi, Zhang Chongsan, Zheng Liji, Wang Lanshi, Lin Tongshui, Jiang Xiang, Xu Xi, Cai Fu, Lu Yi, Chen Qingji, Liu Jiancai, Ye Delu, Yan Dechang, Li Yan, Che Bian, Lin Tianfu, Jiang Chaochun, Su Dengke, Li Chamou, Li Wanjin, Wang Lian, and Su Donghai. Among them, Yu Qingfang, Su Youzhi, Zhang Chongsan and Zheng Liji were sentenced to death. Excluding Wang Lanshi, who was found not guilty, the remaining defendants were given prison sentences of different lengths, such as 9, 12, or 15 years. The records of the confiscated objects, including seals, banners, firearms, knives, drums and currency, are quite detailed.

其他說明:1.封面「余清芳外二十二名判決書」，左上方以紅筆書有「九月二十一日」字樣，成文日期為大正四年（1915）9月21日。
2.台灣總督府臨時法院裁判長判官高田富藏、判官藤井乾助、判官宇野庄吉、書記古山聖、書記山下忠平。
3.1915年余清芳、江定、羅俊等人領導台灣人以武力抗日，史稱「余清芳事件」或「西來庵事件」、「噍吧哖事件」，事敗後，余清芳於1915年8月22日，在王萊庄被捕。乃日治時期台灣人抗日事件中規模最大、犧牲人數最多的一次。
4.本件文物為當時之判決書，全文以日文書寫，內容計有被告人資料、押收物件、主文、事實及理由等。被告人計有余清芳、蘇有志、張重三、鄭利記、王藍石、林通水、江祥、許細、蔡福、盧乙、陳清吉、劉見財、葉得露、嚴得昌、李研、車扁、林添福、江朝春、蘇登科、李查某、李萬金、王蓮、蘇東海等23名。其中余清芳、蘇有志、張重三、鄭利記被判處死刑，其他除王藍石被判無罪外，均處有期懲役15年、12年、9年不等。並詳細記錄押收之物件，有元帥印、旗、槍械、台灣刀、太鼓、貨幣等物件。
5.附件印有「臺灣省臺南市選舉委員會」字樣，手寫「大正四年（民國四年、一九一五年）九月二十一日台灣總督府臨時法院（設台南廳台南）對余清芳等二十二名之判決書（噍吧哖事件判決書）」。
