Description:Edited by the Collection Subcommittee of the Tainan County Documents Committee, published by the Tainan County Documents Committee. Vol. 1 No. 1, March 15, 1953. 56 pages.
Following the establishment of the Tainan County government in 1946, the local publication Nanying Wenxian was launched in March 1953 with the aim of preserving historical and cultural material relating to Tainan County. At first, the goal was to compile and edit a magazine for the county, but soon it gradually become a place for antiquarians to publish their research findings, chiefly papers on politics, economics, culture, history and historical criticism having to do with Tainan County. Early on the publication was quarterly, with four issues per volume; then starting in 1959 it was published together as one volume. Beginning in 1960, Wu Xinrong served as editor-in-chief. By 1999, a total of 43 issues were published. In 2002 it became an annual publication. After Tainan city and county were merged, the magazine merged with the publication Tainan Culture.

台南縣政府於1946年成立之後，為保存台南縣歷史文化史料，建構完整地方誌，故於1953年3月創辦《南瀛文獻》；起初以編修縣志為目的，後來則逐漸成為文史工作者發表研究成果的園地，主要刊載與台南縣政治、經濟、文化、歷史有關之文獻發掘與史事考證的文章。初期為季刊，四期為一卷，1959年以後以一卷合刊發行，1960年以後由吳新榮主編。截至1999年為止，總計出版43卷合刊，2002年起改為年刊發行；台南縣市合併後，即與《台南文化》合併。
