Yingzhou Anthology of Poems is a collection of poems from the Island-wide Congress of Poets in March 1932. This two-day event was organized by the Taipei Yingzhou Society and held at the Taipei Dalongdong Confucius Temple. The primary and secondary poetry themes for the first day were "Spring Chill" and "Bao Wu Ji"; for the second day they were "Snow on a Grassy Mountain" and "Zhu Hua Chao". Later, a banquet was held at Penglaige, featuring a poetry writing competition with two revered literati serving as judges. The resulting works were compiled by Yingzhou Society member Lin Qinsi, and included venerable works by over 100 poets from throughout Taiwan. Publication ceased in February 1933.
During the Japanese colonial era, the Yingzhou Society was one of Taiwan's three major poetry clubs. Numbering among its members were no lack of famed politicians and businesspeople; as such, heading the list were Taiwan Governors-General Mitsunoshin Kamiyama and Kenzo Nakagawa, as well as Taihoku Imperial University president Tan Shidehara. Chinese poets Kubo Tenzui, Luo Xiuhui and Wei Qingde wrote the preface. At the same time, Huang Zanjun's "Evolution of Taipei Confucius Temple", Yingzhou Society president Xie Ruquan's preface for the Island-wide Congress of Poets, and Xu Baoting's "1932 Record of the Island-wide Congress of Poets" were compiled. Besides poems, the anthology also included photographic portraits of over 100 poets. As copper-plate prints, the images are clear, retaining faithful likenesses of these people from long ago and adding to the value of this anthology. Together, this book and Huang Hongyan's compilation Yinghai Anthology of Poems are known as Taiwan's "Twin Jades of Compiled Poetry," important witnesses to the development of Chinese poetry in Taiwan during the Japanese colonial era.
