Description:Whale of Taiwanese Literature Bimonthly began publication in February 2001, founded by Cai Jin-an, with Huang Jinlian serving as editor-in-chief. Published by Open-Mind Magazine Enterprises. January 2003, after being launched as a bimonthly publication, this magazine started being published monthly beginning with the 13th issue. At this time, the contents of each issue were recorded onto a CD attached to the back cover, making it an audio magazine. Its name was changed to Whale of Taiwanese Literature Monthly at this time. The CDs were included up to the 81st issue in September 2008, but it remained a monthly publication and no name change was made. The 131st issue was published on November 1, 2012. The magazine has received subsidies from the Council for Cultural Affairs and the National Museum of Taiwan Literature.
The chief aim of Whale of Taiwanese Literature Monthly is to circulate works Taiwanese-language literature. Its content includes research findings, modern poetry, prose, novels, plays, nursery rhymes, children’s fairy tales, and items of Taiwan interest, providing a place for Taiwanese-language writers and researchers to share their works. It has made far-reaching contributions to the Taiwanese-language literary movement.

其他說明:《海翁台語文學雙月刊》，2001年2月創刊，創辦人：蔡金安，總編輯：黃勁連，開朗雜誌事業有限公司出版。2003年1月，第13期起改為月刊，並擇錄每期作品灌錄成有聲光碟片，附於書後，成為有聲雜誌，更名為《海翁台語文學月刊》。2008年9月，第81期起取消附增光碟之編製方式，但乃維持月刊型態，名稱不變，迄2012年11月1日已出版發行至第131期。曾獲行政院文化建設委員會及國立台灣文學館補助。
《海翁台語文學月刊》以刊行台語文學作品為主，內容有研究論述、現代詩、散文、小說、劇本、囡仔詩（童謠）、囡仔古（童話）、台灣國風等，提供台語作家、研究者的發表園地，對台語文學運動有深遠的貢獻。
