Description:Edited by the Collection Subcommittee of the Tainan City Documents Committee, published by the Tainan City Documents Committee. First edition, October 24, 1951, 63 pages.
Tainan Culture is the first periodical published by the Documents Committee of any of Taiwan's cities or counties. It was first issued on October 24, 1951, by the Tainan City Documents Committee as a quarterly, compiling documents and information regarding the city of Tainan with the aim of promoting the city's cultural development. The periodical mainly published manuscripts on cultural research into the city's course of development, including old newsletters, maps, poetry, songs, local tales, antiques, and biographies of famous people. Its name takes into account Tainan's unique status among all areas of Taiwan as the old cultural capital, while also holding that a magazine should popularize information; as such, the decision was made not to use the word "document" in its title as other cities or counties did, thereby highlighting the uniqueness of Tainan Culture.
The cover of the first edition shows a drawing of Koxinga Shrine by Yen Shuilong, and the issue includes essays such as "An Investigation into Tainan's Ancient Relics," "Development History of Tainan," "Tainan and Koxinga," "The Restoration of the Chikan Towers," "The Person and Poems of Lian Yatang," "The Streets of Tainan," and "Review and Prospects of Educational Work in Tainan."

《台南文化》是全台各縣市文獻委員會發行刊物之首，於1951年10月24日由台南市文獻委員會發行，以季刊的形式蒐集整理台南文獻資料，以促進台南文化發展。主要刊載與台南市沿革有關的各種舊志、地圖、詩文、歌謠、地方掌故、古蹟文物及名人傳記等文化研究相關文稿。其命名一方面考量台南在台灣各縣市中獨具的文化古都特色，同時也為兼顧刊物應走向大眾化的前提，故不採其他縣市慣用的「文獻」之名，從而確立《台南文化》之特殊性。
創刊號封面為顏水龍繪製的延平郡王祠，收錄〈台南先史遺物的考察〉、〈台南市發展史略〉、〈台南與鄭成功〉、〈赤崁樓修復記〉、〈故儒連雅堂其人其詩〉、〈台南市街小志〉及〈台南市教育工作的檢討與展望〉等篇章。
