Description:An award plaque made of wood with metal strips adhered to it, upon which are engraved the words "1998 Wu Chuo-liu Literary Awards; First Prize for Novels; Winner: Husluman Vava (Real Name: Wang Xinmin); Winning work: The Hunter; Wu Chuo-liu Literary Award Foundation; Representative Wu Wanxin; Director Zhong Zhaozheng." It includes a photo of Wu Chuo-liu.
The former incarnation of the Wu Chuo-liu Literary Awards was the Taiwan Literary Awards, established in 1964 by the venerable writer Wu Chuo-liu. In 1969, Wu founded the Wu Chuo-liu Literary Award Foundation, and the name of the award was changed to Wu Chuo-liu Literary Awards. Its aim was to give encouragement to young writers and foster the development of literature in Taiwan. At first there was only an award for novels, but in 1971 categories were added for new poetry and Chinese poetry. The award categories grew in number over the years, and starting in 1991, all literary works of local quality were eligible for entry. The awards were also endorsed by pertinent members of the Taiwan P.E.N.
In 1998, the Bunun writer Husluman Vava (1958 – 2007) won the grand prize in the novel category for his novella "The Hunter", published on October 10, 1997, in the Taiwan Daily supplement. The story is narrated with rich structure and exquisite depth, fully unveiling a "simple, natural vitality and originality," and unanimously winning the judges' good reviews. Regarding this special honor, the writer stated at the award reception speech that he wished to dedicate this honor bestowed to him "to my people: the Bunun," because "the content of this award-winning work is, at its root, the life experience and wisdom of the Bunun."

2.木質獎牌，附有金屬貼皮，其上刻繪字樣為「1998吳濁流文學獎小說正獎得獎人：霍斯陸曼‧伐伐先生【本名：王新民】　得獎作品：獵人財團法人吳濁流文學獎基金會　代表人吳萬鑫　主任委員鍾肇政」，並有吳濁流先生照片一幀。「吳濁流文學獎」之前身為前輩作家吳濁流於1964年設立的「台灣文學獎」，及至1969年，吳濁流成立「吳濁流文學獎基金會」，才將其改名為「吳濁流文學獎」，以此鼓勵年輕作家，並推動台灣文學之發展。最初僅設有「小說獎」，1971年增加了「新詩獎」與「漢詩獎」；評選範圍亦逐年擴大，1991年後，所有具本土性之文學創作均可成為候選作品，同時接受台灣筆會會員等相關人士之推薦。已故布農族作家霍斯陸曼‧伐伐（1958-2007）於1998年以發表於1997年10月10日《台灣日報》副刊之短篇小說〈獵人〉獲得當年度之小說正獎。該文敘事結構完整、描寫細膩深刻，並充分展露「質樸、自然之生命力及原創性存在」等特質，獲得評審一致好評。而對此殊榮，作家於得獎感言中自陳，要將這份給予他自信和肯定的榮耀「獻給我的族群──布農族」，因為「得獎作品的內容原本就是布農族的生活經驗和布農族的智慧。」
