- GDESC:此標本僅知於 1984 年 7 月下旬採自蓮華池地區，因標籤資訊短缺，採集者已難查考，但根據字跡，可能是臺灣植物分類學家鄭元春，並由其本人鑑定做 Ternstroemia gymnanthera (Wight et Arn.) Beddome。標本上保有一段帶葉枝條，以及可能是殘存花梗的構造。葉呈橢圓形至倒卵狀橢圓形，葉基楔形，先端短急尖或窄縮成短尖，葉全緣或略反捲，革質至薄革質。
  
  本種臺灣植物學界多稱厚皮香，為常綠灌木至小喬木，株高可達約 10 公尺，原生亞洲大陸東南隅和南亞地區。臺灣雖也有散生低中海拔闊葉林內的野生族群，但更容易見到它們被運用在公園、校園或都市內的綠化植栽。它們的花生於當年生的無葉小枝上，花梗長且明顯做下彎狀，花冠在新鮮時接近米白色，花期時單棵樹上的花勢往往十分旺盛，常吸引大批昆蟲。
