- GDESC:　　本標本為浸液標本，全長46公分。
  　　軀幹長最大約達27公分左右，尾長最大達軀幹長之1.8 倍，耳朵開口等於或小於鼻孔，成體體色以褐為主，或深或淺，其上並散有許多藍斑，幼體之兩側邊則帶有深色或黑色縱斑，左右皮摺間具背鱗16-18列。體側從耳孔後約一個頭部處到尾部有一條明顯皮摺。
  　　臺灣全島都有零星記錄，海拔高度多集中於1000至2000公尺之間，但數量稀少且生性隱蔽不易見到；除臺灣外，越南南部及中國大陸南部(北至湖北及安徽)亦有分布。喜於較潮濕的天然林底層之落葉堆或土中活動，偶爾會到較空曠之林道或路邊曬太陽，會吃蚯蚓、蛞蝓或甲蟲之幼蟲等，尾巴易自割；卵生，一窩可生5顆革質卵。
