  性別：雄性，吻肛長：230 mm，尾長：70 mm。立姿標本，本件標本受損嚴重，雙腳斷裂。
  雄性全長可超過60公分，雌性較小大多小於35公分，身體側扁形，體色極易改變，頭頂具高聳頭冠，眼睛可作360度旋轉，並可獨立作業同時觀察兩個物體；舌頭長可達身體的2倍長；尾部呈捲曲狀；腳趾5根，分為內外兩組，前足是外2，內3，後足則是外3、內2。
  棲息於葉門及阿拉伯半島一帶。為樹棲動物，喜於樹上活動；卵生，一年可多次繁殖，蛋白色會埋於砂中，每次可產數十顆蛋，孵化期約5到7個月，剛孵化的小變色龍約6-7公分，雄性後腳跟處有一肉芽狀凸起；獵捕時會將長舌快速伸出捕食，以昆蟲及其他小型節肢動物為食。
