- GDESC:保育等級：International Union for Conservation of Nature紅皮書中屬資料缺乏(Data Deficient)類別。
  
  型態：松鼠科，台灣特有亞種，也是台灣體型最小的鼯鼠。體色頭背部偏土褐色，腹部較淡，兩邊耳朵上方有一小撮黑毛。頭型渾圓，吻端短鈍，眼睛則又大又圓。前肢與後肢間有飛膜，腕部軟骨特化可撐開飛膜滑翔。不過躍行能力較滑翔能力佳。
  
  生態：夜行性，白天多躲藏於樹洞或岩縫中棲息，夜晚方出沒覓食，偏好於樹上活動。植食性，喜食糖分高之果實或嫩葉，例如小葉桑。多分布於中海拔針葉林、闊葉林或混合林，族群數量稀少。
  
  形質：頭與軀幹長約20公分左右，體重約203公克。
  
  標本資訊：本件標本吻肛長27公分，尾長14公分。乾燥保存。
