    • GDESC:保育等級：International Union for Conservation of Nature紅皮書中屬低危物種(Least Concern)類別。

      型態：黃鼠狼體型雖不特別大，卻是台灣的肉食哺乳動物中頗為兇猛的一種，犬齒特別大。其頭部扁平，體型修長、四肢細短，體背危赤褐色，腹面顏色較淡，冬季體色較夏季深，鼻吻端與喉部有白斑。

      生態：獵食對象主要是鼠類、鳥類、蛇類或大型昆蟲，也會吃食腐肉，以及誤入陷阱的山羊或山羌等。多分布在中、高海拔的森林地帶及箭竹草原。夜行性，白日偶也會出沒活動，是台灣五種貂科動物中較常被目擊的種類。

      形質：頭體長25到34公分，尾長15到21公分，體重約300至601克。

      標本資訊：本標本吻肛長36公分，尾長16公分，尾部斷裂。乾燥保存。
