      型態：中文俗名小豚貓、田螺狗、鰗鰍貓、臭貍仔。臉部呈黑褐色，由頭頂經後頸至背中央有一條白色縱帶，額頭到眼睛周圍有明顯的白毛。吻端突出像豬鼻，因此又稱「小豚貓」。全身披深灰褐色粗毛，身體瘦長，四肢細短呈污灰色，爪尖銳且長，尾部有白色蓬鬆長毛。鼠蹊部有味道濃厚的臭腺。

      生態：原生地不明，主要棲息在中國大陸長江以南地區。臺灣特有亞種普遍分布於低、中海拔山區，通常棲居在原始闊葉林、灌叢區和開墾地。分布海爬最高可達2100公尺。白天躲藏，日落後始外出覓食。主要以嗅覺找食物，喜食蜥蜴、鳥類、小型嚙齒類，而蝸牛、蚯蚓、昆蟲也是他們的獵物選擇。每年5-6月是生殖高峰，通常每胎產1-3隻幼獸。

      形質：吻肛長35-40公分，尾長14-20公分，體重1-1.75公斤。

      標本資訊：本標本為雌性，吻肛長40 公分，尾長17 公分，以乾燥方式保存。
