Introduction：This is an extremely rare signed portrait photo of King Ludwig II of Bavaria (South Germany), who was sometimes referred to as the “Mad King” due to his eccentricity. Besides being a generous patron of the musician Richard Wagner, Ludwig II is certainly most well-known for commissioning the construction of several lavish and extravagant castles, the most famous being Neuschwanstein which is now one of the most popular of all the palaces and castles in Europe.
