Introduction:Switching its business from firearms manufacturing to typewriter production, Remington acquired the patent of the first typewriter by Sholes & Glidden in the 1870s. By improving the patented technology, Remington developed and launched its own keyboard typewriter in 1878, the first commercially successful typewriter, Remington No.2, which laid a solid foundation for the company to become one of the leading typewriter brands.
This Remington Standard No.9 Typewriter is a “upstrike” blind writer, which requires the typist to lift the paper roller in order to see what has been typed, making it rather inconvenient to check for typing errors. It is also noteworthy that this particular typewriter is equipped with an Arabic keyboard, which is quite rare.
