Introduction:The slow loris gets its name from its habitually slow movements. They can only climb but not jump, making them starkly different from the typical impression of primates always jumping around vivaciously. Slow lorises have round heads and small ears. An adult is usually 40cm tall and weighs up to 2kg. Slow lorises have extremely soft, dense body hair, which is usually grayish brown. A dark chestnut-colored stripe runs down the center of their back from the top of their heads to the base of their tails. The tail is quite short and almost entirely covered with body hair.

All lorises are nocturnal and they spend most of the night foraging. During the day, they sleep in tree holes or similar dark, hidden places. In addition to fruits and bark, they eat a lot of insects. Slow lorises are polygynous, and although they belong to the lower primates, their fertility rate is as low as the higher primates. Due to deforestation of tropical and subtropical rainforest in recent years, slow lorises have lost a significant amount of habitats and experienced a rapid decline in numbers. All loris species are listed as either vulnerable or endangered.
