Introduction:This small-size typewriter was developed and improved by Charles Bennett in New York, USA. Back then, it was priced at USD$18, about one-fifth the price of a typical keyboard typewriter. Moreover, it was also easy to replace the ink ribbon and clean the typing roller, making this typewriter a rather economical and practical option. However, its compact design and tight key layout were also its drawbacks for they could increase the likelihood of pressing the wrong keys and causing wrist injuries for typists.
Typical Bennett typewriters come with “QWERTY” keyboards, but, as indicated by the two French words “RENVERSEZ” and “LE RUBAN” on its body, this typewriter was sold in France and hence the French keyboard layout.
