Year:1922~1924

Introduction:E. Remington and Sons was established in the state of New York, USA, first as a company producing firearms. Later, it branched out its business and began the production of typewriters.

In 1920, Remington launched its Remington No.1 Portable Typewriter, which was well-received by the market. It was the first portable typewriter with a four-row keyboard configuration, already featuring shift keys for the switch between upper and lower cases and using the “QWERTY” layout. It was not until 1926 that the other two companies, Royal and Underwood, introduced competing portable typewriters also with a four-row keyboard.
