Introduction:Samuel David Colkett(1806-1863) was an active British artist of the first half of the 19th century, who achieved reputation through his genre, scenic, and animal paintings. He once participated in salons at the Royal Academy.
Before landscape paintings became one of the major categories in the 19th century British art, portraiture had always been highly appreciated.
