Description:This plaque was inscribed by Tang Yu-yao as a gift to Liu Fang. The Chinese characters Si Shi Lou Shi [“But a humble abode”] are arranged horizontally in large, bold strokes. To the left of the four characters is a much smaller, vertically written note that describes the friendship between Tang and Liu, who were both originally from Jining City, Shandong Province. Because Liu was a few years senior, Tang jokingly referred to Liu as his “big sister,” describing her as “forever bright” as the two shared similar personalities and got along “extremely well.” The note reads, “Sister Fang and I are fellow townspeople. It’s a pity I only got to know you so late. Even so, sister Fang of today is surely brighter than sister Fang of yore, and it is my pleasure to become an acquaintance of you. You and I are so much alike in thought and personality, and I treasure the time we spent together. It’s not uncommon for me to feel happiness at this age, but your presence cheers me up to no end.” In the margins are Tang’s seal affixation and signature that reads, “Inscribed by Tang Yu-yao of Jining City, Shandong Province in the early spring of the year Ping Tzu (1996).”

摘要:本件藏品為唐玉堯題字贈予劉枋的一橫幅匾額，內容分別為大字題寫「斯是陋室」四字，以及直書小字，記載創作者與劉枋來往的梗概，所記內容，大致描述自己稱劉枋為同鄉（山東濟寧）大姐，形容劉枋「雋永澄澈」，並表示自己與劉枋的個性相近，相處起來「不亦快哉」，內容為：「枋姐為余同鄉，憾○識荊較晚，然今之大姐定較去北之劉枋更為雋永澄澈，故乃此弟之幸，上未可知與大姐過從最為溫馨快意，此為彼此思想個性頤而相近，余晚年不亦快哉之事少鮮，而與大姐交更大大不亦快哉也。」落款寫：「丙子初春山東濟甯唐玉堯」，並有鈐印，推測本件藏品應於1996年寫成。（文／高維志）

其他說明:1.唐玉堯（1923/0000），中國山東濟寧人，高雄師範大學英文系教授，書法家。
2.劉枋（1919-02-15/2007-07-25），中國山東濟寧人，筆名狄荻、趙俠碧、柳綠蔭，創作以小說和散文為主，也寫劇本、報導文學、傳記。曾於文章中寫道：「走筆至此，室外正是好黃昏，夕陽窺牖，隔簾射進霞光縷縷，我拋管覆紙，擦去臉上汗水，然後放肆的仰臥榻榻米上，輕揮小扇，看著『斯是陋室』，不覺信口漫吟出：『人生若夢誰非寄，到處能安即是家』來。」參見劉枋〈川端橋下〉《劉枋自選集》（台北：黎明文化，1975年5月）頁50。
