民國85年2月5日日本東京都天海山雲龍寺足利正明贈中正紀念堂典藏物品。
足利正明為曹洞宗天海山雲龍寺主持大和尚，與台灣向稱友好。
曹洞宗為禪門宗教派之一，傳入日本後，法威大揚，成為日本最大的佛教宗派，也是日本最大的宗教團體。擁有上千萬名的信徒，禪寺二百餘所，大學四所及各級學校一百餘所，日治台灣時期曾在台灣創立「私立臺北中學」，嘉惠台灣求學子弟。

Ashikaga Masaaki, with Tenkaizan Unryu-ji, Tokyo Metropolis, presented the vase to Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall on February 5, 1996.
Ashikaga Masaaki was Chief Steward and Grand Priest of Tenkaizan Unryu-ji of Soutoushuu and had long been friendly toward Taiwan.

Soto Sect is one of Zen Schools. After introduced into Japan, its influence had been widely spread and became one of the most popular Buddhist sects and is the largest religious group in Japan. It has tens millions of followers, over two hundred Zen temples, four universities, and over one hundred schools of various educational stages. During Taiwan under Japanese rule, it had established "Private Taipei Junior High School" to offer an educational opportunity for Taiwanese students.
