民國75年10月31日蔣中正總統百年誕辰，國立中正紀念堂管理處、中國書法學會，在教育部與行政院文化建設委員會指導下，舉辦「蔣中正總統遺訓（嘉言）書法展覽」，除邀請名家參展外，並舉辦公開競展，共收稿件三百餘件，經敦請書法名家十餘人為評審，就社會人士競展作品中選取一百件，以應百年之數。凡入選及邀請名家參展作品均由中正紀念堂典藏，共計130幅，編號自C100001至C100130。
彭鴻書，邀展作品，「勵精知恥刻苦自強」。蔣中正總統在「報國與思親」一文中的片段；「一時之艱危不足憂，公理之消沉不足懼，國力之薄弱亦不足患，而存亡興廢之所繫，惟問吾國民有無勵精知恥、刻苦自強之決心。」可以看到在危疑動亂之際，蔣中正總統以此砥勵國人，亦以此自勉。

On October 31, 1986, for the 100th birthday of president Chiang Kai-shek, a calligraphy exhibition called “The quotes of President Chiang Kai-shek” was held. With the guidance of the Ministry of Education, the Executive Yuan Cultural Construction Committee, the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Management Office, and the Chinese Calligraphy Society. In addition to inviting famous artists to participate in the exhibition, an open competition exhibition was held, and more than 300 manuscripts were received. After inviting more than ten calligraphy masters to be judges, one hundred works were selected from the public, in response to the 100th anniversary. All works of selected and invited artists, a total of 130 pieces, were collected by the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall.

An excerpt of president Chiang Kai-shek’s article "Serving the Country and Thinking of Family". "The momentary difficulties are not enough for worry. The dimming of axioms is not enough for fear. The weakning national strength is nothing to worry about. The vicissitude of the country is tied only to the people. With this I encourage them to introspect and improve themselves.”. It can be seen that in times of crisis and turmoil, president Chinag Kai-shek used this to encourage the people of the country and also to encourage himself.
