Although titled as the Ode to Spring, the work depicts flowers, plants, birds and rocks of all-season that symbolizes hope and prosperity. The painting can be divided into two major parts: the foreground and the background. A myriad of objects is in the foreground. On the right stands a bamboo tree, whose massive branches extend to the left. Below, peonies and other flowers bloom and speak. In the middle stands a stone, where a sparrow and a magpie sing. On the right side, there is a plum stem, where two waterfalls run behind. The painting lacks an evident middle ground. The background renders Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall in vibrant colors, celebrating its prosperity and auspicious hope to the people.
