尺寸:99.5x84.5x4(含框)
Lin Chin-Hsien (1968-), born in Yilan, Taiwan, is an accomplished oil and watercolor painter. He graduated from the Fine Arts Department and Graduate Institute of Fine Arts at National Taiwan Normal University. Lin serves as a full-time professor in the Fine Arts Department at National Taichung University of Education, an adjunct professor in the Fine Arts Department at National Taiwan Normal University, and an art collection evaluation committee member for the Tainan City Government. His works have garnered numerous accolades, including the Chimei Art Talent Cultivation Award for two consecutive years, the International Biennial Print and Drawing Exhibition in Taiwan for drawing, the Liao Chi-Chun Oil Painting Award, and the China Literature and Art Medal in the oil painting category.
Lin excels in academic realist painting, focusing on female nudes and still lifes. His work is characterized by solid and meticulous realistic skills, incorporating current events, folklore, history, and culturally significant symbols into his portrayals of people, creating a surreal blend of reality and dreamscape. Lin believes that realistic painting is not merely a "representation" but a complex mental presentation that reflects the artist's personal life values. His pieces, whether depicting figures, flowers, or fruits, often feature dramatic compositions and symbolic techniques, transcending objective description of the subjects. His work showcases not only technical finesse but also his concerns and reflections on historical or contemporary issues.
In this particular piece, Lin depicts former President Lee Teng-hui sitting on a sofa reading a newspaper. Although the figure seems to be indoors, he is set against a backdrop of mountains and the sea, highlighting Lin's skill in using symbolic methods to detach from reality. Titled "Vision of Democracy," the artwork signifies the milestone of direct presidential elections in Taiwan's democratic history, while the seaside crowd enhances the imagination of democracy and freedom.
