尺寸:66.5x85.3x5.6(含框)
Lin Jen-chieh (1948–), a native of Yunlin County, is also known as Lin Tsai-feng, and is a watercolor painter. He graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at National Taiwan Normal University, where he subsequently served as a professor. He has served as chairman of the Taiwan Watercolor Painting Association, a member of the Taiwan International Watercolor Painting Association, and juror for the 52nd, 58th, and 60th Taiwan Provincial Fine Arts Exhibitions. Between 1997 and 2008 he made three visits to Indiana University in the United States for academic research, and is also skilled in art appreciation instruction and the training of fine arts educators.

Lin studied under the senior painters Ma Pai-shui, Liu Wen-wei, and Li Kun-pei; his painting style was formed by his passion for watercolor landscape painting during his adolescent years. Upon entering university, he experimented broadly with different media and art forms, but his particular love of the "spreading" and "flowing" qualities of water led to watercolor becoming the center of his creative career. Lin's primary approach is landscape painting from life, and figure paintings depicting the customs and scenery of his home region can also be found in his work. During his research visits and visiting scholar residencies in the United States, he drew extensively on the landscapes encountered there, incorporating them into his watercolor work; at this time his brushwork also began to grow more lively, and his colors shifted from cool to warm. After returning to Taiwan, he assembled works created during his travels and held the exhibition "Foreign Sensibilities: Lin Jen-chieh Paintings" at the Chiayi Municipal Museum.

This work was completed during his residence in the United States, with the light and colors of Taiwan's mountains and rivers, along with the egret, as its primary subjects. The distant view consists of hazy mountains and buildings; the middle ground features sandbars and egrets as accents; the near view shows two small boats moored by the bank—a classic landscape composition with clear spatial layers and a stable structure. The egret alongside brings a touch of movement to the quiet scene of the setting sun.
