沈以正(1933- ),江蘇武進人,國立臺灣師範大學美術系、中國文化大學藝術研究所畢業,任臺灣藝術教育館研究推廣組主任及國立臺灣師範大學、私立中國文化大學兼任教授,專攻中國美術史,也非常擅於繪畫。曾於歷史博物館國家畫廊個展,獲中國畫學會金爵獎、中興文藝獎章、全國美展邀展、海峽兩岸邀展、炎黃美術館北京展、洛杉磯雷根美術館收藏。著作有《人物畫法一、二、三》、《敦煌藝術》、《婉麗、典雅:金勤伯》。2011 年於本館第一展廳展出「神合貌離」羅芳、沈以正攜手五十年展。
沈以正的作品受溥心畬、金勤伯、吳詠香等人影響,人物用筆精審嚴峻,墨彩渾重厚實,高古挺拔之氣躍然紙上。,其作品以人物山水見長,具有古人的筆法,濃淡手法功力深厚,充分展現出明暗的層次;加入富有神韻的色彩,為山水國畫增添生命力,透過傳統筆墨,表現出人物畫的生命與靈魂,筆觸純熟卻帶有拙趣。
本作以禪宗人物作為主題,警示於人,豁然心目,岩石、樹木堅挺飽滿,蒼勁有力,流水營造了典雅高古的意境。沈以正雖師承「北派」,對於內心的氣質與稟性又對「北派」的剛峭有所柔化,俊美之氣又自然流露,與固有的剛強相交融,呈現出一種特別的藝術風格,畫中落款「溪邊自結廬」,則帶有濃厚的禪思意味,值得一看。(508字)
Shen I-Cheng (1933 -), a native of Wujin, Jiangsu, graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at National Taiwan Normal University and the Graduate Institute of Art at Chinese Culture University. He served as the Director of the Research and Promotion Department at the Taiwan Arts Education Center and as an adjunct professor at both National Taiwan Normal University and Chinese Culture University. Specializing in Chinese art history, he is also highly skilled in painting. He has held solo exhibitions at the National Gallery of History Museum and has received the Golden Peacock Award from the Chinese Painting Society, the Zhongxing Art Award, and has been invited to participate in national art exhibitions, cross-strait exhibitions, and exhibitions at the Yanhuang Art Museum in Beijing and the Reagan Library in Los Angeles. His published works include "Techniques of Figure Painting I, II, III," "Dunhuang Art," and "Graceful and Elegant: Chin Chin-Po." In 2011, he held the "Unity in Appearance and Spirit: Luo Fang and Shen I-Cheng's Fifty-Year Joint Exhibition" at the museum's First Exhibition Hall.
Shen I-Cheng's works are influenced by artists such as Pu Hsin-Yu, Chin Chin-Po, and Wu Yung-Hsiang. His figure paintings are characterized by precise and rigorous brushwork, with heavy and solid ink and color, and an ancient and lofty aura that leaps off the paper. His works excel in depicting figures and landscapes, using ancient techniques with a deep mastery of light and shade, fully showcasing the layers of chiaroscuro. By incorporating evocative colors, he breathes life into traditional landscape paintings, expressing the vitality and soul of figure painting through traditional brush and ink. His strokes are mature yet retain a charming simplicity.
This work features Zen figures as its theme, serving as a reminder to viewers, bringing clarity to the mind. The rocks and trees are sturdy and full, exuding a vigorous strength, while the flowing water creates an elegant and ancient atmosphere. Although Shen Yizheng was trained in the "Northern School," his inner temperament and character soften the Northern School's rigidity, naturally revealing a refined beauty that blends with inherent strength, presenting a unique artistic style. The inscription in the painting, "A hut built by the stream," carries a strong Zen philosophical meaning, making it well worth appreciating.
