尺寸:68.5x56.5x2.3(含框)
Chen Yang-Chun (1946-), born in Beigang Township, Yunlin County, is a Taiwanese watercolor painter. He graduated from the National Taiwan Academy of Arts and worked as an art designer at Ching Hua Advertising Company. Chen has frequently traveled across Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Africa, capturing landscapes and historical sites in his sketches. To date, he has visited dozens of cities and held over a hundred solo exhibitions, gaining international acclaim. He has been awarded the Literary Medal by the Chinese Art and Literature Association, the Friendship Medal by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, recognition as a Senior Cultural Figure by the Council for Cultural Affairs, honorary citizenship of Tennessee, USA, and the key to the city. Chen has also taught at his alma mater, National Taiwan University of Arts, as well as at National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, TransWorld University, Qiqihar University, Zaozhuang University in Shandong, and Changzhou Yixian College. To promote watercolor art, Chen established the "Huayang Award" to encourage emerging artists, with over a hundred recipients to date. His contributions have yielded significant results.
Chen developed a passion for painting at an early age. He was exposed to calligraphy at seven and began practicing watercolor painting at fourteen, accumulating a wealth of experience in his artistic journey. Beigang, known for its bustling Chaotian Temple dedicated to Mazu, has deeply influenced Chen with Taiwan's traditional religious culture and temple art, shaping his vibrant and lively painting style. After graduating from the National Academy of Arts, he briefly worked in advertising before dedicating himself entirely to painting for over half a century.
Chen’s watercolor works, whether depicting urban and rural landscapes, elegant figures, flora, fauna, or religious imagery, skillfully capture form and convey the meanings and values of both secular and transcendent worlds. For instance, his depiction of the town of Wulai showcases his mastery of brushwork and shading techniques. The light, delicate colors create a visual effect that lies between watercolor and ink wash, evoking a sense of the historical changes and the passage of time in the city.
