蔣中正總統三十八歲時（民國十三年），手訂經常閱讀書目，內容包含五經、四書、左傳、戰國策等五十餘種，共計四O九種，一三九O冊，包羅廣泛。四十歲以後，對哲學類書籍如宋儒學案等、黨義類的三民主義及文學類的唐詩三百首等尤其熟讀精研，用力最勤。
書櫃共有五座，按易經元、亨、利、貞、乾排列，均係蔣中正總統平日經常研讀之書籍。元書櫃放置資治通鑑、史記、漢書等七十九種書籍。

Chiang Kai-shek, when he was 38 years old (1924), compiled a list of more than 50 frequent readings, including Four Books, Five Classics, Zuo Tradition, Strategies of the Warring States, among extensive 409 types of books and 1,390 books. After the age of 40, he was interested in philosophy books, such as Scholars of Soong and Yuan Dynasties; in political thoughts, such as Three Principles of the People; and in literature, such as Three Hundred Tang Poems; which were books he read carefully over and over again.
He had five bookcases classified and arranged according to Yuan, Heng, Li, Zhen, and Qian categories, which were the books that Chiang Kai-shek read frequently. Bookcase Yuan stores 79 types of books, including Comprehensive Mirror in Aid of Governance, Records of the Grand Historian, Book of Han, etc.
