Description:This photo of Chu His-ning (right, in a black gown) and Hu Lancheng (left) was taken in the 1970s and was donated to the museum by Chu Tien-wen. In May 1974, the Japan-based Hu came to Taiwan as a visiting scholar at the invitation of Yangmingshan Cultural Institute (now Chinese Culture University). During that time, Chu was researching Eileen Chang for his writing, so he visited Hu at the institute, and the two hit it off. In 1975, Hu’s previous work China Through Time was released in Taiwan but was quickly placed on the Nationalist Government’s banned book list because Hu had worked for the Wang Jingwei government. The ban would later extend to his other works, including Jinsheng Jinshi (This Life, This World). In autumn of the same year, Hu’s appointment at the institute was abruptly terminated, and he returned to Japan temporarily in January 1976. However, because of his great friendship with Chu, Hu came back to Taiwan in April and moved from Yangmingshan into the house next door to Chu’s in the following month. In the six months that followed, he wrote, gave lectures, and spent time with Chu. He returned to Japan again in November to prepare for the launch of a new magazine. In March, 1977, San San Literary Periodical was born, and Hu, preoccupied with editorial duties, never visited Taiwan again. He died peacefully in his Tokyo apartment on July 25, 1981. All his writings during this period were published in the periodical under the pen name Li Qing and were later reprinted in a single-volume collection by San San Books.

摘要:本件藏品約攝於1970年代，照片右側著黑色罩衫者為朱西甯，左側則為胡蘭成。本件藏品為朱天文所捐贈，並附錄〈朱西甯與胡蘭成〉短文：「1974年5月，胡蘭成應邀從日本來台，在陽明山文化學院著書執教，朱西甯為搜集張愛玲資料前往拜訪，從此結識而成知音。1975年春，舊作《山河歲月》在台出版，以其曾任汪精衛政府幕僚的經歷而被禁，《今生今世》亦被勸告停止出版。秋，停止上課。1976年1月返僑居地日本，4月復來台，5月即自陽明山遷居朱西甯家隔壁，著書，講學，為時半年。11月返日，籌款辦雜誌。1977年3月，《三三集刊》創刊。胡蘭成遂不復來台，至1981年7月25日於東京寓宅去世，其間著述皆以筆名李磬發表於《三三集刊》，並由《三三書坊》集結出版。」（文／蔣富璧）

其他說明:1.朱西甯（1926-06-16/1998-03-22），本名為朱青海，祖籍為山東臨朐，生長於江蘇宿遷，1949年隨軍隊來台，在軍中持續創作發表作品，推展國軍新文藝運動，主編《新文藝》月刊，擔任黎明文化公司總編輯，1972年以上校退伍後專職寫作。曾發表有〈鐵漿〉、〈旱魃〉、〈現在幾點鐘〉、〈八二三注〉等作品，以及多篇散文隨筆，並留下遺作《華太平家傳》。朱西甯1956年與翻譯家劉慕沙（劉惠美）結婚，兩人育有朱天文、朱天心、朱天衣三女，皆為知名作家。
2.胡蘭成（1906-02-28/1981-07-25），原名胡積蕊，小名蕊生，為中國近代作家，著有《今生今世》、《山河歲月》、《禪是一枝花》等作品。（文／蔣富璧）
