Description:Written in Japanese by Yang Kui, only one page of this work remains. It was finished in 1942 and the manuscript was written on Shouyang Farm manuscript paper. “Shouyang Farm” was created by Yang Kui between 1936-1945 and was a place for literary friends to gather and talk.
Yang published “Father and Son,” a work of social realism, in 1942 and it was an exploration of the historical factors explaining the inability of the poor to escape their predicament of poverty and ill health. In the end he concluded it was the grossly immoral wealthy class and their cowardly parasitic lackeys who together created this inevitable result. The story revealed the rich/poor dichotomy that existed in real life and criticized the opportunists who forsake the good for the sake of gold, deceived the good and feared the bad, and perverted the truth. As for other Yang Kui manuscripts, a digital archive has been completed and can be browsed in the “Yang Kui Literature Museum”

其他說明:1.互見《楊逵全集》第一卷‧戲劇卷（上），國立文化資產保存研究中心籌備處，1998，頁23-40。2.其中一頁為手稿之殘稿。
2.楊逵著，日文劇作，本藏品為僅存之1頁，成文於1942年，使用首陽農園稿紙。「首陽農園」為楊逵在1936-1945年所創設的農園。也是文友相聚討論的地方。1942年楊逵發表了〈父與子〉這篇社會寫實劇作，探索窮人之所以無法逃離貧病交迫困局之歷史因素；最後認為這是多行不義的富豪階級，以及依附權利的膽小之徒，聯手造成的必然結果。劇中揭露現實生活中貧富對立的處境，批判了投機份子見利忘義、欺善怕惡與顛倒是非的惡行。有關楊逵手稿，皆已完成數位典藏，可自本館所架設的「楊逵文物數位博物館」瀏覽。
