Description:This piece is extremely short but quite adequately covers the process and motivations for writing. A longtime free recipient of Biographical Literature, Guo Lianghui had agreed several times to editor Liu Shaotang’s request that she write an article of the type “Xu Xu and I” because she had an almost twenty-year relationship with Xu as both friend and mentor and knew Xu extremely well, yet for one reason or another, she was never able to finish it. It was only when Xu passed away in October 1980 that she finally paid tribute to her in loving memory. She was very much saddened by the death of a great teacher of the age but at the same time mentioned that eight months before when she went to Hong Kong to see Xu Xu on her sickbed no one from the Hong Kong literary world showed any concern or was aware of her situation. This told something of Xu’s proud and independent strength of character and behavior and, in the end, was high affirmation of her literary achievements.

其他說明:本文篇幅極短，卻相當完整地述及寫作的過程與因緣。身為《傳記文學》的長期受贈者，郭良蕙曾數次應允發行人劉紹唐為該刊物撰寫類如「徐訏與我」的文章，原因在於其與徐訏有長達將近二十年亦師亦友的交誼，對其所知甚深，卻因故始終未能完成，直到1980年10月徐訏過世，方以緬懷的筆觸為文追悼。她對一代大師殞落充滿感傷，同時也提及該年8月前往香港時，徐訏已臥病在床，但香港文學界卻無人關心知曉，由此略敘徐訏傲然不群的風骨與為人，最後對其文學成就給予高度肯定。
