Description:This photograph of Beatrice Lee (center) holding Hsia Tsu-mei (left) and Hsia Tsu-li (right) in her arms was donated to the museum by Lee’s estate. Hsia Tsu-mei is writer Lin Hai-yin’s eldest daughter and Lee’s goddaughter. She currently resides in the United States with her husband, Stanford University professor Chuang Yin. Hsia Tsu-li is Lin’s second daughter and a magazine editor and publisher. She edited Her Worlds, a collection of works by feminist writers including Lee. Lee and Lin became best friends through their shared interest in writing, after both moved to Taiwan in 1949 with the Nationalist government. In My Greatest Love is Mother Nature, Lin wrote, “Every time Beatrice visits us at home, my daughters rush to serve her a plate of melon seeds. They then sit by her feet and listen intently to the fantastical stories “Auntie Lee” has to tell.” This photo is proof of the close bond shared between the Hsia sisters and their “Auntie Lee.”

摘要:本件藏品為琦君家屬捐贈，為琦君與林海音的女兒之合照。照片由左至右為夏祖美、琦君、夏祖麗，琦君雙手摟著她們一同望向鏡頭。夏祖美為作家林海音的長女，定居美國，也是琦君的乾女兒，其夫為史丹福大學教授莊因。夏祖麗為林海音次女，曾任雜誌編輯，也出版過許多文集，選編包含琦君在內的女作家作品，輯成《她們的世界》一書。琦君和林海音兩人於1949年來臺後即因寫作結識，私交甚篤，林海音曾於〈一生兒愛好是天然〉中回憶：每次琦君來家裡，女兒們就會端茶拿瓜子，然後搬個竹凳坐在她腳下，聽潘阿姨說故事。這張照片約略可見夏家姊妹與他們口中的乾媽琦君、潘阿姨之間的深厚情誼。（文／陳佳琦）

其他說明:1. 琦君（1917-07-24/2006-06-07），本名潘希珍，臺灣文學重要作家，創作文類包含散文、論述、小說、兒童文學、翻譯、詞論等。著名作品有散文集《煙愁》、《細雨燈花落》、《留予他年說夢痕》、《桂花雨》、小說《橘子紅了》等。
