Description:Created by Chung Chao-cheng in the autumn of 2003, this calligraphy artwork features a couplet that translates into “Tranquility is reached when the heart has no material desires, and the mind is elevated when one is surrounded by books and music.” The couplet was taken from Master Sheng Yin’s The Sky is Always Blue—Wisdom from ‘Caigentan’, a commentary on the second volume of Ming Dynasty author Hong Zicheng’s book Caigentan [“Vegetable Roots”]. The original passage in Caigentan translates into “A heart without material desires is like the autumn sky and the sea; a room replete with music and books is like an abode of the immortals.”

摘要:本件藏品為鍾肇政於2003年秋所題的字，藏品內容為：「心無物欲乾坤靜，坐有琴書便是仙」。應與明代洪自誠《菜根譚》後集中的「心無物欲，即是秋空霽海；坐有琴書，便成石室丹丘」有關。後由聖印法師所著的《天天天藍——菜根譚的智慧》註解為「心無物欲乾坤靜，坐有琴書便是仙」。（文／朱英韶）
其他說明:1.鍾肇政（1925-01-20/），小說家，著有：「台灣人三部曲」：《沉淪》、《滄溟行》、《插天山之歌》以及「濁流三部曲」：《濁流》、《江山萬里》、《流雲》等。曾與陳火泉、鍾理和等人發行《文友通訊》。
