Description:Shi Meiqiao was dedicated to the study of He Shaoji’s running cursive script, as can be seen in this plaque gifted to Dr. Chan A-chuan (1891–?), who graduated from the Government-General of Taiwan Medical School, worked at the Taichung Hospital, and later opened a private practice in Yongjing Township, Changhua County in 1917. The four Chinese characters on the plaque, chun li tuo ming [“the people entrust their lives to you”] is a common congratulatory phrase. The ink-and-paper version of this inscription was never framed, and it is speculated that Shi inscribed the characters directly on the wooden plaque. Each stroke of every character is a culmination of the beauty of strength and speed. The long wool calligraphy brushes used by Shi have an excellent ability to absorb ink, allowing Shi to apply strength to the very end of each stroke. The warm, saturated strokes create an air of tranquility meant to soothe patients in the hospital waiting room.

其他說明:風格特色：施梅樵（1870-1949），為清末到日治時期重要的台灣詩人，也是這個時期的代表書家。其書法學自清代碑派名家何紹基（1799-1873）。何紹基習書由唐代顏真卿和歐陽通入手，中年潛心臨摹魏碑《張黑女墓誌》，晚年他專攻篆籀與漢碑，融書體之長，而自成一家。施梅樵專攻何紹基學自真卿《爭座位帖》的行草書體，
此四字行書書匾，未落年款，受贈人為詹阿川（1891─?）醫師，為總督府醫學校畢業，於1917年在彰化永靖開業，亦曾於台中醫院任職，此「群黎託命」乃常見的書家應酬之作，此墨蹟紙本從未裱褙過，推測應是摹刻於木匾之上。書家優美舒緩的筆力與速度為之，長鋒羊毫筆的含墨量，使書家可以將力量推送至線條尾端，仍墨色溫潤，其平和的氣息懸之於醫院，可使人得到心靈的撫慰。（文／莊千慧）
