Description:Written in running script by Chung Chao-cheng in the early summer of 2005, this calligraphy artwork features Li Bai’s lushi (7-character, 8-line rhymed verse) titled Deng Jin Ling Feng Huang Tai [“Atop the Phoenix Lookout of Nanjing”], which reads, “Phoenixes that played here once, so that the place was named for them / Have abandoned it now to this desolate river / The flowered paths of Wu Palace are crooked with weeds / The garments of Qin have turned to dust / Like this green horizon halving the Three Peaks / Like this Island of White Egrets dividing the river / A cloud has arisen between the Light of Heaven and me / To hide his city from my melancholy heart.” (Trans. Witter Bynner.) In the margins are written “Excerpt from Li Bai’s poem Deng Jin Ling Feng Huang Tai,” and “Inscription by Chung Chao-cheng, early summer of 2005.” The calligrapher’s seal is affixed.

摘要:本件藏品為鍾肇政於2005年初夏，以行書題寫李白的七言律詩〈登金陵鳳凰臺〉全詩，內容為：「鳳凰臺上鳳凰遊，鳳去臺空江自流。吳宮花草埋幽徑，晉代衣冠成古邱。三山半落青天外，二水中分白鷺洲。總為浮雲能蔽日，長安不見使人愁。」落款題有：「錄李白七律燈金陵鳳凰臺二○○五初夏鍾肇政書」，並有鈐印。（文／朱英韶）
