藏品描述：被害蔗苗兩端從切口先變紅，以後全部變黑腐爛而不能發芽。病症發展過程中發散類似鳳梨之香味。本病病菌亦能為害鳳梨。
The term is derived from the characteristic smell of a matured pineapple associated with infected cane setts.
This smell is due to the causative organism of the disease, Ceratocystis paradoxa. Infection usually start from the cut end of setts or wound created by insect pests on standing cane. The disease has devastating effect on setts germination, seedling establishment and cane yield.
